The Beatles' Ballads
The Beatles Ballads album was never released in the United States, but nonetheless saw wide distribution worldwide. It was released in the U.K., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, India and Italy. While album was very popular in Australia, in particular, where it spent 7 weeks at #1. The album was latter released in 1985 as a cassette and LP in Brazil under the EMI-Odean label. The collection has never been released on CD.
What is most interesting about this collection, other than being a fine selection of songs, is the cover art. The cover of Ballads was originally intended for the Beatles White Album. It's style was inspired by the original working title of the White Album, A Doll's House. The album was designed by artist and playwright, John Byrne.
