The Beatles' Long Tall Sally

The Beatles' Long Tall Sally was the third and last album produced and distributed just for the Canadian market by Capitol Records Canada. (A fourth Canadian album was a special compilation from the Beatles' early days with Tony Sheridan in Germany, and not released by Capitol Canada.) It was first distributed on May 11, 1964. After this LP, the Canadian market would be served by selling the same albums as those released in the US. The first of these was A Hard Day's Night (on the United Artists' label), followed by Something New (on the Capitol label).

The track listing for this LP is a blend of songs from other records. I Want to Hold Your Hand and This Boy were from UK single releases. Long Tall Sally and I Call Your Name came from the EP as released in the UK. I Saw Her Standing There and Misery came from the Beatles' first UK album, Please Please Me. Four songs were from With the Beatles, and had already been placed in the Canadian market on the first album, Beatlemania! With the Beatles. (Roll Over Beethoven, You've Really Got a Hold on Me, Devil in Her Heart and Please Mr. Postman). I'll Get You was a single in the UK and released in the US on The Beatles' Second Album. You Can't Do That was released on A Hard Day's Night. The cover is virtually the same as that used by Capitol Records (US) for The Beatles' Second Album.
