The Beatles' Story
The idea behind Capitol Records' release of The Beatles' Story on November 23, 1964 was to cash in on "Beatlemania," even though Something New had come out in July and Beatles '65 was slated for release in December. It was Capitol's fourth Beatles' release in the US. The record is a documentary with two 25-minute LP's. A small stereo segment from the Hollywood Bowl concert the previous August can be heard on side one. The remaining tracks are interviews and Beatles songs with voiceovers. The record sold reasonably well, certified as gold (but not selling a million copies), and it made it as high as number 7 in the charts, mainly on the strength of the other albums of the Beatles' music that Capitol had released. The LP stands as something of an historical curiosity. It has never come out on CD.
