Bob Molyneux

The retired policeman who in 1994 rediscovered a reel-to-reel tape he had made of The Quarrymen playing the Woolton fête at St Peter's Parish Church in Liverpool in July 6, 1957. He was experimenting with a portable tape recorder made by Grundig when he unwittingly captured on of the pivotal moments in Rock and Roll history. This was the moment that Paul McCartney met John Lennon.

The tape was soon thereafter actioned at Sotheby's, where EMI purchased the recording for £78,500.
