A Day In the Life Lyrics Handwritten by John Lennon

A Day In the Life Handwritten Lyrics

Written on two sides, these lyrics represent John Lennon's surrealistic contribution to A Day in the Life was sold by the estate of the late Mal Evans (the Beatles' longtime roadie) for £56,600 at Sotheby's auction house in London in 1992. More recently, it was auctioned again in 2010 for some 1.2 million dollars.

It was one of many items discovered in a trunk belonging to Mal Evens abandoned in the basement of a New York publisher in 1986 and subsequently shipped to his family in London.

You can see the famous phrase I love to turn you on inserted in blue. The phrase contributed to the song being banned by the BBC as they deemed it to be a drug reference.
