The Beatles first single for the EMI / Parlophone label and the single that really began it all. It's noteworthy that the singel version of Love Me Do is the recording on which Ringo Starr first recorded with the band. He was replaced be drummer Andy White on the version that was released on the album.

For collectors, the orignal version of Love Me Do was released with a red label (with mor ethan one variation). Parlophone ceased production of these early red labels in favor of black labels some of which feature Ringo on drums and others Andy White.
