  • George Harrison was a big Carl Perkins fan, and this one of his favorites by this R&B great. The Beatles performed Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby as early as their "Cavern Club" days, and George usually took the lead. It's his one lead appearance on Beatles for Sale.. In the recorded version, George Martin adds piano to the mix, and some say that George's voice was overdubbed. The records show that it was recorded in just one take, however, and considerable reverb is used on the vocal track. The song has a standard 12-bar blues structure, repeated several times with instrumental solos added in. The instrumentation is rich and somewhat muffled, differing only in this respect from the Perkins original.

Well they took some honey from a tree
