Falling in Love Again (Can't Help It) is the fourth song on side three of the double-disc collection of Live! At the Star-Club in Hamburg, Germany; 1962, a low-fidelity transcription of the Beatles' performance in Hamburg on December 31-ish. No one is exactly sure which track was recorded on which of the nights they performed there in late December of '62 - 25, 28 / 29, and 30.

The Beatles probably put this song into the playlist for its familiarity and special appeal to German audiences. It would not otherwise immediately come to mind as a performance number for a British rock group.

The original song was performed by Marlene Dietrich in the 1930 film, Der Blaue Engel. (She made the song famous in England and the US by recording an English version as well.) Frederick Hollander composed the tune, and Sammy Lerner wrote the words, which are at best a very loose adaptation of the German text. The track is just under 2 minutes long.

Falling in Love Again (Can't Help It) is one of the many cover songs the Beatles played at one time or another and dropped.
