I Forgot to Remember to Forget
The Beatles covered I Forgot to Remember to Forget during their early years, and it was recorded May 1, 1964 for a BBC radio show From Us to You broadcast on May 18, 1964. It then became part of the collection, Live at the BBC, released in 1994.
Stan Kesler and Charlie Feathers wrote this country and western-style song, which came out on August 20, 1955 for Sun Records. The original artists were Elvis Presley, Scotty Moore and Bill Black as a trio, with Johnny Bernero (drums). With Mystery Train on the flip-side, it became a number one country hit in February of 1956 and stayed on top for 5 weeks, making Elvis a nationally-known country singing star. Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash also covered the song before the Beatles' version was broadcast on the BBC.
