John Lennon sings I Got to Find My Baby on the two recordings the Beatles made of this Chuck Berry song. One, made on June 1, 1963 in BBC's Paris studio, was for the Pop! Go the Beatles broadcast of June 11, 1963 on BBC radio. This version is on the Live at the BBC compilation (1994). The second recording was made on June 24 for a Saturday Club program, taped at the Playhouse Theater (in London). Lennon in particular was a big fan of Chuck Berry, and sought to imitate his style both in singing and songwriting. Even though Chuck Berry's original release of I Got to Find My Baby was not successful, the Beatles caused the song to become quite popular in the UK. In both recorded versions Lennon sings lead and also plays the harmonica.
