Paul wrote I'll Follow the Sun when he as just 16, in the days of the Quarrymen in Liverpool in 1957. Stu Sutcliffe was the drummer back then. The original version (1960) is much in a Buddy Holly, rock-a-billy style. The recording made for the Beatles's fourth album, Beatles for Sale, feels more like a folk ballad. The bridge was re-written for the new version, with double acoustic guitars by John and Paul, and electric lead guitar from George. Ringo's percussion is knee slaps.
