I've Just Seen a Face is on the UK version of Help! and on the US version of Rubber Soul. Paul wrote this song and takes lead vocals. Paul called it Aunty Gin's Theme because his father's youngest sister (Aunty Gin) considered it her favorite. The recorded track is unusual for the Beatles because it has no line for the bass. It is in the style of a country-western ballad, but much more up-tempo. It's closer to the pace of bluegrass and as fast-paced as just about any other song in the Beatles' catalog. The song is also set apart because Paul overdubbed his own harmony line (sang a duet with himself), as the vocals were out of John's range. Ringo plays maracas and only on the chorus. George plays lead guitar on an acoustic 12-string. It was never performed live by the Beatles, though Paul did sing it in his Wings tour in 1976.
