Don't Let Me Down

Hello all, thanks for visiting theBeatles.org. My name's Jonathan. I'm a professional Webmaster and a HUGE Beatles fan as you might have guessed. I'm American, I live in Mexico. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. At present, I'm playing around with all the possibilities on this site. It's pretty much brand new and a work in progress, but I think it'll be up to speed soon.

The Beach Boys were knocked out by Rubber Soul. Pet Sounds was influenced by Rubber Soul and they clearly aimed to better it. McCartney liked certain bass lines in Pet Sounds. The influence on Lennon is negligible. I doubt Lennon and Harrison went...

I have to wholeheartedly agree with John Lennon on this one. Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas' version was pretty weak. They were pretty weak generally though they did have a few songs that still work, I like "I'm in Love".

You probably have to have a couple of things going for you to make the connection between BYARM and Brian Epstein. First, it helps if you were alive (and old enough) when the single was first released in mono in 1967. Also, and sadly, archives from...

I happen to like the song, but I can certainly see why The Beatles had their reservations. It's structurally very simple and very formulamatic though there was no intro to speak of. The bridges were vocally a little shaky which is surprising...

Pet Sounds is a revolutionary record, basically Brian and Paul go hand in hand, creating the best music of all time.Without these two the sixties wouldn't have been what it is.

I also think this a somewhat hidden gem on the two record output officially entitled 'The Beatles.' That it received little airplay compared to some of the songs picked by studio execs or the group itself (????) to promote the 'White Album' was, to...

Though call, but I'm on McCartney's side on this one, the 1970 version was overproduced, I like the more natural sound on the 2003 Album. The highlights of this latter are The long and winding road, I me mine and Across the universe; these three...

Good Site. Thanks for the impartial review. We know how we feel about certain groups but, it's good to know others views. We've seen Yesterday Beatles Band as well (In Ohio last summer,) and really enjoyed their show. In addition to great musical...

I'll be the first to admit that the Beach Boys put out a lot of mediocre material in order to "pad out albums" due to industry pressures to make an average of four albums a year in the early years. Even by the standards of the time, that was pretty...

Now you CAN hear Stuart singing "Love Me Tender"! Released just yesterday, on October 20th by Stuart's estate, the song is beautifully done by Stu. He was head chorister of his church choir when he was a boy in Liverpool; the training shows as he...

I don't know too much about Don's other work but his solos on the Holly tracks are superb. Thanks Don for leaving a great legacy. Stuart Duffy

It's not overwhelmingly so, but it might be a hair better than 2 or 3 other contenders. There are hardly any bad songs on it at all. It's a way better album than Abbey Rd. which I have always considered overrated (maybe their 6th best album)

Hi all, thought you might like to know that the UK's best Beatles tribute band, The Fab4, is headlining at the Harleston & Waveney Festival, Norfolk, UK, this year. The band is playing in the town on Thursday 25th August 2011 so if you are...

smiley smile is really great, it has their most complex harmonies, the one at the end of wind chimes hurts my head jsut trying to break down all the layers. No one can top pet sounds, but i think smiley smile has a very warm quirky home made sound...

The Don Arnone guitar solo overdubbed on "Crying, waiting, hoping" is maybe the best I have heard on a pop record..and the others on the New york tracks are not bad either....congratulation..50 years after...!!!

Hmmm, why would running a Beatles fan site make one obligated to think that the Beach Boys deserve to be considered among the best bands of all time? Why would it be "sad" otherwise? I don't mean to question your bona fides but I don't think your...

I'd certainly much rather put on Birthday by The Beatles at my birthday party. I'm not sure, though, how critical an institution the birthday song is to begin with. Perhaps instead they should have tried to undermine the Mexican Hat Dance if they...
